Memory Stick

I have a friend whose camera uses Memory Stick. I am trying to get him to upgrade the stick from 16mb memory stick to an 8gb memory stick pro duo. What is the significance in the change in the name of the product from Memory Stick to Memory Stick Pro Duo?

I believe Pro Duo is a different shape; hence why it comes with an adapter a lot of the times to work with Memory Stick devices.

Edit: Also be aware that depending on the device, it might not be able to use that large of a capacity. Try Upgrade Dell Computer Laptop Memory, IBM, Lenovo - identify RAM DDR DDR2 DDR3 modules and look up the model number of the Sony camera, or just do some googling (i.e. "<model number> max memory"). Can usually find the max capacity that you can use with the camera.

That doesn't really tell a difference, joeten... "ordinary camera memory" can be anything. He wants to know the difference between a Memory STick and a Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Would still need to know if the camera can handle that large of a capacity memory stick though.
