Media Problems

Hi,

I lost the driver to my sound card, I think (it was "sound Max") so I installed a new driver by using driver wizard (drivermagic.com). Now I can hear sound, not everything, but it sounds like it's speeding!!!!! the movies are speeding, the songs are speeding.
I have windows 2000 OS. I have no idea what to do, and how to diagnose the problem. I'm trying self help before running to the store and pay them a furtune.
I have some knowledge in computers, above average probably. but I'm not a technician...

Hey, no problem. Go to www.cpuid.com and download CPU-Z. That will tell us what kind of motherboard you have.

OK, click on the mainboard tab in CPU-Z and copy out what it says for the "Chipset"

Also in that same tab, tell me what the manufacturer and model number are. There were a few more options than I originally thought.
