Media player will not turn off

I have problem with media player on vista.

I start playing song or a video file, mean player does not even show up on my screeen. However I can here the song or video file playing in the background.

I order for me to have media player come up on my screen, i need to go into my star menu and turn it on manually.

However the other problem that i have is this. I turn off media player, what ever music or movie will still continue playing until the end. I can not see media player on my screen. It's not on my task bar. It not my device manager when I ALT+CRTL+DEL. However i can still hear the media playing on my speakers.

Suggestion on how to fix this.

OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit.

I suggest if this is broken, you should probably go:

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and features -> Click on the Media Player (On my Vista it is flagged as "Viewpoint Media Player" -> Click Uninstall/Change. After that you should download a new version of it. A site for this is:
