how can i completely uninstall windows media player 9 and let media player classic handle everything? i have changed the file extensions to open with classic but i still get the prompt that wants me to install media player 9 when i click on the files. i've deleted the media player files in the folder but they just come rite back. thanks

Unfortunately that's a bad one. Microsoft purposely made it uninstallable. I've heard that if you have a system restore point back from before you installed it, you can get rid of it that way.

Eewww! Searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base which lead to this: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player/faq.aspx#2_3 (2.3). Also, look at 2.4. If you have Windows 2000 or 98, it can be done easily otherwise, it's a restore point.
