Question Media Player

We are developing an application which has to download an MP3 file from the server, and play it locally.

for which we are using Media player 7.1 Active X control for downloading and playing the streaming audio.

I want to know which version of the player should I use so that the application is compatible with all users having having Windows 2000 professional and above. If anyone knows which version of Mediaplayer is shipped with Windows 2000, then please let me know.

I assume you're using Windows Media Player? If so, when you use streaming video/audio with it, your not downloading it to your computer, you're playing it off another server, therefore you cannot take copyrighted material. That's the whole idea of streaming, so you can't steal the material, unless you have a recorder.
