Manually install windows updates?

Before anyone asks, I am runnign a fully legal version of windows XP.

But, I hate Microsoft, internet explorer, and Windows Update. So, how do I donwload updates manually (I mean I want just a striaght-up http download, one that requires nothing but, say lnyx or firefox). Perhpas a redistributable style download?

How do large corporations, or any site that has lots of machines, roll out updates?

This legit, looks a little questionable, and it gave me a pop-up (on firefox), which to me is evidence fo a site I may nto want to use to update my OS
