major windows problem.. virus?

ok... im not sure if this is the right place, but it seems to fit. Im running windows XP, and recently all my taskbar icons (on the right side) are grayed out and i can use them... is this a virus? regardless, can someone help me to fix it, i cant use some of my stuff (specifically my livejournal client)... its really getting annoying... thx

You can scan for viruses at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ . I don't think it's a virus but if you scan you'ill know it for sure.
