I own a Gateway MX6426 notebook.

I have reformatted my hard drive, deleting the back up partition. The notebook came with no disks. I have properly installed everything, all the drivers, except for the sound driver. I installed it, and it installs properly but the driver never gives me sound.

It is Realtek 97.. I got the latest download, and it still wont work. Anyone who can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

System Specs:
Intel Express 200m integrated card
1gb ram
AMD Turion Processor
80 gig hard drive

Driver is posted here: Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver Driver Summary

or you can download it direct from Gateway via their ftp site: ftp://ftp.gateway.com/pub/hardware_support/drivers/win_xp/portable/m325/D00377-002-002.exe

If that doesnt work create a folder called files or whatever. Put the downlaoded driver in there. Using WinRar extract the contents of it to that folder. Using the Extract here method. then go to your device manager and manually search your drive for that folder. See if Vista will then find the .inf file needed for the driver isntall.

If the option above doesnt work and my method doesnt work then i can only say that it isnt the right driver. Cause those are the only known methods to install a driver in Vista.

If you have XP and the drivers above are not working then something is wrong. Download CPU-Z and find out the make and model of your mother board. From there google it and gets the right drivers.

If they still dont work then 1 of 2 things are going on.

1. Bad install
2. Onboard sound is dead
