Lotus Notes crash

When I get a link sent to me at work and I click it, not only does the link not open, it locks up Lotus and I have to kill it with task manager. Then I have to reboot to open Lotus again. I have looked through several pages of possible fixes for it and none seem to be the solution. I am using version 6.5.4. The default browser for Lotus is set to IE and we currrently use IE exclusively within our corporation. IE 6 mind you. I can copy and paste the link just fine into IE but wouldn't it great if I could just click it to begin with?

Trying editing your current location -- under the Internet Browswer tab and trying changing that setting.
