Lost partition record

I recently had the partition record of my C drive disappear so I could not boot. I had to do a Windows clean install in the partition, which rewrote the record, then I changed boot.ini to point to the old Windows folder and then do a Repair install. This was a large hassle to restore Windows XP.

Anyone know how to restore the partition record so Windows will boot.

What you are trying to fix i think, is the MBR (master boot record) and generally running the XP disk from boot, and selecting repair installation should do the trick.
