Default Lost my stuff!

When I was drunk I changed the password to log onto my laptop and hten I forgot the password so the only thing I could think of was to press the recovery thing. So now I've lost all my files but I think I can get them back somehow. Does anyone have an idea? Also, could I just get back some files and remove the rest? thanks.

Knoppix CD, or plug the HD into another computer, copy needed files, format.

EDIT: Forget the HD in other computer idea, since it's a laptop.

What's a Knoppix CD? I'm very bad with computers, I apologize
and by what's a knoppix CD I mean how do I get my hands on this?

EDIT: wait, now I found my backup stuff, but it won't let me get to my documents because under Owner it says the access is denied and thanks for the quick reply.

Specifically, a Knoppix CD is a Linux live CD that runs entirely off CD. You can carry out most functions of a regular operating system with it.

You can download one as an ISO image that you can burn to CD from any of the places listed here:

I have no idea what to do at this site. I clicked on one of the mirrors and it took me to the "FTP directory" and it has many many links.. how do I burn this?
I truly am a newb when it comes to this stuff, it's awful there's just one thing I really want from my old stuff and its out of reach.
