Default longhorn

i've been trying to install windows longhorn [ver 4053] on a computer for a friend of mine. it seems to install but after the installation, the furthest it gets is the desktop (just the wallpaper, no taskbar or icons) and a working cursor. i've tried installing it a half dozen times or so on a fat32 and ntsf file system.

the computer is a hewlett packard with an intel mobo with phoenix bios. it has a pentiii 800mhz processor, 128 mgs ram and 10gig hd.

does anyone know why i am having this problem. thx, maxwell

it doesn't recognized a lot of hardware. and you can't update the hardware on it when it do load as it won't accept xp drivers. vers. 4074 and 4083 recognizes more hardware.
