Default Linux that can be fastly downloaded over a 56K line?

Ok, here's my dillema... Currently I'm looking for a "Just for play" version of Linux. I've tried the www.distrowatch.com website to see if I can get anything small enough to be sucked over 56K that works, but NO-GO.. any suggestions?

Creative Labs Audigy 24-bit sound.
Some Case from tigerdirect

currently looking at a litescribe drive at staples, due to its ability to label the CD shortly after being burned.

Zipslack is a fairly small distro designed to fit on a Zip disk.. I used it back in the days before broadband, and I'm pretty sure it's still a decent distro. Check it out at www.slackware.org

1 question paradox : after i download everything, unzip, make a raw boot disk, is there anything else? Do I have to install it onto my harddrive?
