Default Laptop's HD activity goes insane while idle

My laptop (insprion 4100 if it matters) suddenly start acsessign the HD (I can hear the thing seeking) whenever the screensaver goes on. It stops within moments of my wakinhg it up. This has been an issues throughout several windwos installs. The screen saver is a very basic on (Mystify I think), and I have no Anti-virus or anything running in the backgorund that would go crazy while idle. Doesn't windows have soem sort of an ineexing service? Perhpas I will look again after a few days uptime and see if it continues to do this.

AGP won\'t fit in PCI-E... unless you use a really good hammer. ~Trotter

Read in Managing Files and folders abt the indexing service, you could disable it to see if the activity continues.
Also clear out your temporary files, and emoty the recycle bin etc if ur low on free space, run a chkdsk and defrag the drive.

What is the concern here ?
screensaver starts up when the system is idle, so there could be some internal services working at the background, especially when it see no activity on the system.
Programs like google desktop search does indexing when your system is idle..

How much memory is in the laptop? Could be a pagefile.
