Laptop Help

I have a Toshiba Notebook. I used to have XP Home on it, but it died (spyware) So I formated my HDD and installed Knoppix to my Hard Drive. I lost my XP Home install disc, so I want to know if there is any way I can re-install XP Home without the Disc, I have the XP-Pro Disc but thats for the computer I built. Well, could I get the XP home disc from a friend, and use my Serial #, the one thats on the bottom of the laptop?

if u ask me, yea, but other ppl have their opinions, it also depends on wat version of xp it is, straight XP, or SP1, SP1A or SP2

If you have a valid serial number/Liscense key, it doesn't matter where you got the Disc. You will need to only install the version for the serial number you have. I don't think home will work for pro or the other way.
