I have a Fujitsu Siemens E8020, with a CAT client installed of Windows XP Pro. My laptop appears to have a bad sector and I have no access to my utilities cd as I'm away from home for another 2 weeks. The bad sector has caused a corrupt registry hive according to the error I received and researched at the microsoft site. Can anyone tell me what programs I could buy that would allow me to boot from CD to check the hard disk(SATA). I'm presuming that when a check is carried out somehow the software is told where bad sectors are and then does not use them. Unable to use recovery console on windows cd as I don't have admin pwd.
