Laptop does not power off after installing SSD

I have seen no drivers for AHCI/SATA on Asus's website. c0rr0sive, what do you mean by the mode the controller is in?

Fat.Clown i have not tried that but even if it worked ok that would not help me, since I would have no place the put the HDD in, and 60 GB provided by the SSD are by no means enough storage.

Ok, I installed the latest drivers for the AHCI controller from Intel's website. I also upgraded the SSD's firmware. Still no change.
