Default Lag/Delay in Listing Folder Contents... any ideas?

Hey all!
I just built a new computer with a WDSE2 hd and some fast hardware but when I open my music folder, the folder listing slows down tremendously and freezes up for about 12 seconds... I didn't have this problem on my older computer. Now, granted I've got 5800 songs in there... but there shouldn't be a delay listing them (as there wasn't on my slower desktop). Any ideas on what might be happening or how to fix this? thanks!

how do you have them listed? like in thumbnails, tiles, list, details?

detail usually takes the longest and you do have a lot of songs.

I have that same problem with the "My Documents" folder on my computer. I have everthing listed in thumbnail view, but there is less that 50 actual obejects in there 1/2 of which are folders.
