Hi all.
My name is alex and I'm a PhD student at the University of Buffalo. My area of research is speech perception (acoustic phonetics) and use IPA symbols a lot. Usually this involves either a lot of cut and paste or going to the character map. I'm trying to find a way of remapping my keyboard so that I can quickly and easily type symbols like ʌ, æ, ʊ, ɛ & ɑ while naming files.
I've toyed with the idea of just writing a perl script to replace a given character string with the necessary symbol but that wont help me when I'm working on a manuscript.
Any help would be much appreciated.
