Hi, I use Windows XP. When I'm playing back MP3s or avis, mpegs etc, the sound has a tendency to suddenly fade outs. In order to reactivate the sound, I have to readjust the volume control in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop screen.

I would think that this must be a problem with the sound driver and that it needs to be reinstalled.

What's the best way of doing this?

Well if you're looking to update/re-install the sound card driver, the best way is to go through what I call the Device Mangler or as MS refers to as the device manager (DM). Whatever. :p

You can access the mangler by R-clicking on 'My Computer' and choose properties from the context menu. Well chit man... the heck w/ me explaining this... you can get it directly from the MSKB website .. will explain it much more clearly than I can. :)
