Internet Connection Problem

I recently formatted my computer, and re installed every driver that I need. Connecting to the internet works completely fine in IE 6 but nothing else will connect (I.E. Opera [preferred browser], Multiple games, Messenger services). After trying a few things myself and consulting multiple friends I cannot fix it, any ideas? Thank you in advance.
