Hey everyone. Im running Windows XP SP2 and everytime I start up my computer I get a popup message that says "Installing COM Component" and it says trying to contact activex.microsoft.com but the progress bar never moves and it is only there for a few seconds and then goes away. But the wierd thing is, if I restart my computer or turn it off and then turn it back on right away, it won't pop up. It only happens when my computer has been off for a while. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I could stop it? Thanks.

COM is Microsoft's "Component Object Model". Either your active X is screwy or a program that relies on active X controls thinks that it needs to install something from the ActiveX site. Maybe take a look at recently installed software. Or... some of the latest XP hotfixes have been causing problems for me. I had to restore from an old point and turn off hotfix for a while. It is really hard to say exactly what is causing it.
