Default install windows xp pro

i am currently using windows 2000 OS and planning to upgrade to xp pro. can somebody advise on reminders before reformatting & installation? thanks.

Just pop in the xp cd and follow the direction's,It can't get any easier than that

but i was advised to do some backups. can you suggest on from wer to start. i got 100GB hard disk available which i can used to saved some files. what should i need to backup? is it just plainly personal files or some other applications related to OS. thanks for the prompt reply.

Just pretty much what ever you feel like keeping No need to keep anything OS related.

when you pop in the cd, it asks to "upgrade". This means it keeps your existing files and settings

Be aware, it does keep viruses, if you had any...

Its better to back up your important files, then Boot off XP Disc, Delete Partition and reformat drive then Install Pro.

Then after OS is up you can put your files back.

Do a clean install. If you keep all of your documents in my documents back that file up. If you want to backup game files let us know which ones.
