Default Indexing Service Question

I've been reading about increasing overall pc speed and one thing i am reading is that if i disable or go through add/remove and get rid of the indexing services that by doing that i will maybe get an overall increase in speed. My question is, who on here has this service disabled, and if you dont' why not....whats the cons? oh and i don't really search my HD, i just open up the D drive and go to the folders I want.

Warez, do you have your's disabled through the Add/remove or just set to disabled through the services folder in administrative tools? or is it just the same thing?

Yeah, i performed the option this morning and it went smoothly. I cannot notice much of a difference, but if it was really an unnecessary service, then i won't miss it. I've been reading your threads on Disabling services in XP and will be following some of your advce in those threads. Thanks for the advice Warez!
