Im Confused Damn Pc's

Hi I am new to this sort of thing and am a bit confused.
I have had some major probs with my pc recently and my friend ahs been trying to sort it out for me...... we have been able to do a scan and deleted some viruses......but was unable to download avg, but we have been able to download avast. but since we have been trying to sort out my pc other things have gone wrong........ they are only little things but it is driving me mad....... I cant run anything out of my start button.....eg regedit. if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

have you tried going to the link in my sig and running an online virus scan. They are very thorough!
