Default IExplorer stopped working

The other day for some reason my internet Explorer stopped working.I get this error message,

IExplorer has generated some errors and will be closed by windows you will need to restart this program an error log is being created

Here is some info about my system
Soyo motherboard
P4 2.4GHZ HT
120GB
xFx 256mb video card
nec 1100a and 2500a dvd burners
This is a new computer that I had built, for software I'm running
Windows 2000
System mechanic pro 4.0

I checked for any updates everything is fully updated

SOunds like the w32/nachi.worm virus ...

Update ur virus definition files n' scan the system for virus's ...

I updated and ran Panda antivirus Platinum 7.0 and it found no virus

Try using Stinger ... 'coz i've noticed that mcafee wasn't able to trace it at first .. n' i'm not really sure 'bout how effective Panda is

I agree with preet2u that it sounds like a virus.
Try running Trend Micro

or
Norton Antivirus Online scan
