iertutil.dll not found

I have this problem that people have posted in the past but i guess im not as computer literate as most . So my computer starts up but only to the log in but then an iertutil.dll pops up and says "This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
It doest let anything startup except the background to my computer.I really would appreciate the advice because i know most of you know how it is to be in this situation of losing everything just like that. Thanks!

iertutil.dll has to do with IE7. it's the run time utility. try doing a chkdsk. if that doesn't solve your issue then just grab your install cd and perform a repair install.
