IE6 Problem??

I have just recently brought a new laptop and have managed to connect to the net using my external ethernet modem and the modem is fine and i am connected to the net.

However when i go into IE6 i cannot open any web pages. All i get is 'page cannot be displayed'. I don't have any virus protection on my comp at the mo and i am thinking that maybe the cause but i was wondering if there is anything i can do?

i just had the same problem..i went into my computer then typed in a web address in the command line..finally it got me online.not sure what the reason is though...changing my browser..microsoft has given me enough headaches...

i installed mozilla...and removed most of the other MS nonsense..works...

go to my computer, type in a url in the address bar and see if it goes to that page.
