Starting this topic as a result of looking into another issue.
I use Firefox as my browser, always.
I run Vista.

Questions;
1) can I remove, delete, or otherwise disable IE from my world

2) do I need/want activex in my IE world or can I remove, delete or
otherwise disable it from IE, assume I can't do #1

Thanks

IE is built-in into Windows so you may not be able to remove it. Just don't use it, set your default Internet Browser to Firefox.
About #2, you may need ActiveX to browse certain websites but it was merely designed for Internet Explorer (reference here), I would recommend you do not delete. If you don't use IE then you should not be worried about it.

How do I Enable ActiveX Controls? How do I Remove or Disable ActiveX Controls?

The reason I started looking into this was because a program I'm trying to run comes up with this
msg...

activex controls could not be displayed.... because
1) your current security settings prohibit running activex on this page
or
2) you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls

any idea on how to resolve either of the conditions mentioned ?

You already have a topic on this. Dont create a separate topic to try and get the same question answered.

Next IE is tied into Windows and it can't be removed. End of story.

You cant remove ActiveX either. It is not possible without effecting the stability of the OS and its daily operation.
