Default I think I have a virus.

I have windows vista. It used to load perfectly fine nice and easy. But as of last night, it started running extremely slow. When I restarted my computer, it took windows 15 minutes to load. I also can't open any media players, such as power dvd or windows media player, they freeze up and say they're not responding. Internet explorer windows take a while to load, but only when opening them for the first time, once opened, I can browse the web without delay. I've been scanning for virus's but finding none. But what else could cause the computer to all of a sudden run this slow? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What AV are you using? How many processes are running in the background? Dunno if Vista has the msconfig command, but you need to see what is trying to run on your PC. If it does, look at the startup tab and uncheck everything except your AV. Check your startup folder and see what's in there. Have you installed any new software recently?
