I need some Win 98 help

ok here is the deal ....

someone gave me a old e machines computer and when i turn it on i get .

Searching for Boot record from CDROM.. Not Found
Searching for Boot Record from Floppy.. Not Found

202: Drive not ready
203: Insert BOOT Diskette in A:
press any key when ready

So can someone tell me whats wrong and what i need to do to get this piece of junk working or do i need to throw it in the dump

Well it doesnt seem to be finding the Hard drive. There either isnt one or there is no operating system on the hard drive.
Have you taken the side off and checked if a drive is in there or not?
Of there is just put a windows 98 CD ROM in and start the computer. You will need the serial number for the disk. And let er install. You will need to get the motherboard and peripherals drivers when done like sound card video modem and such. But you should be able to find all the drivers on the e machines web site.
