I need some help with my windows 7 installation on a gateway laptop. (hard drive driver error)

Hi everyone, I'm having a little problem. I was trying to install windows 7 on a Gateway w350a laptop, and I get an error. Prior to this error, I deleted the vista partition that was on it, im guessing along with all the drivers. The error says that the computer can't detect the hard drive drivers, and doesn't let windows 7 start, even though it's installed. I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's a way to keep the drivers. I just did a factory reinstall of windows vista, but I want to give 7 another try. Thanx
