I need help in "recovering" memory after UNinstallation of software (game)

First time posting, so bear with me. Hopefully I didn't post in the wrong section.



I need help with uninstallation of a specific game (F.E.A.R.) and recovering used memory.

I'm actually a newbie to the gaming world. Recently dropped by Target and noticed "F.E.A.R." Graphically tremendous. I come home and do some internet searching for a demo of F.E.A.R., found it, downloaded, installed...but couldn't get it to work. I guess my system can't support the game. So then I decide to uninstall the game...

I have "uninstalled" the demo version (i.e. add/remove program) BUT I'm still short approximately 1 GB of FREE harddrive space. How do I recover this memory? I have restarted my computer but I'm still short 1 GB of memory. Where exactly is it? Hidden somewhere?

Have you tried to defrag your drive and see if that helps?

Defragmentation complete, but still no success.

I was actually browsing the internet and an individual (link below) suggested that I conduct a "system restore"...well that didn't help either. Actually loss another gb that way. And so I un-did the restore, and again loss another gb. Is that suppose to happen?
