Default I need to format a partition but can't!

I need to format a partition on my macbook that runs (sorta) Windows XP. There was an error with the installation (a human error - I stupidly installed XP SP1, not XP SP2) and I can't fix it.

The macbook won't book into mac os x, and I can't get windows to format itself obviously. Is there anyway to get around this?

It wouldn't be so bad if xp would recognise the keyboard during boot, instead, I can't get XP to boot from CD - it goes straight to the OS.

Any help would be great... I think I just turned a $2000 machine into a paperweight.

You could insert a linux live cd and format your drives from there.
