Default I can't play media files

When I try play a movie trailer or a radio station, I get any number of errors like "cannot create direct show", etc.- Just yesterday I could play all these, so I'm not sure what happened. I have all the latest wmplayer, realplayer, quicktime, etc. I appreciate your help.

"Can not create DirectShow player" and "an internal application error has occured" are common ones.

No. The only thing I can think of is that I ran the registry defrag with tuneup utilities 2006. Could that have affected my media players?

With Windows, anythings possible .

Have you tried uninstalling your WMP and then re-installing it?

Windows Media Player maintains a list in the registry of executable names that WMP9 will work from so the fix is to add mozilla.exe as keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ ShimInclusionList key in the Windows registry.
