I'm not sure if it's really a problem but I have an HP Compaq nc6000. It's a pretty old computer but it works fine. I was just wondering why that everytime I start it up is displays "000 KB" on a black screen. The numbers starts moving up really fast and then my computer will beep telling me that the numbers have stopped and has given me different function options. One of them being "F1 save and continue." , which is what I always choose. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Most likely doing a memory check at the beginning of boot.

Try resetting BIOS to see if it gets rid of the "F1 to save and continue."

I don't want to sounds dumb but I am a new techie. How do I restet a bios? Or do you mean I just have to go into the bios and find the setting and disable it?
