How to transfer files without a harddrive between XP and 7?

I recently just got a new laptop that's running windows 7 to replace my old one that has XP. The problem is I can't seem to figure out the best way to transfer literally 100GB's worth of media files from my old laptop to my new one. It's all just in one file on my desktop.

I don't have a removable hard drive or the money for one, all I have is an 8GB USB which would take too much time to even bother. So I was thinking of using a network, but I have no idea how to use one.

Network them as you said.

Share the XP c drive and then just copy paste everything.

Networking is simple using any router, but can done without one in an ad-hoc setup:
