How to repair this HD?

hey!
First, excuse me becuase my bad English (I'm not an English man)

I have an out-of-cpu hard disk but it doesn't work well now, its light is already red (I think this means it's busy).

I need somebody tells me how to repair it?

Checkdisk is the first thing. Ussually can fix most problems before they become bad.
where are you seeing a red light? on the case?
I'm assuming windows 2k or greater ...
open my computer, right click the drive go to properties. Then select tools then Check now. select both checkboxes and then click start. click yes at the next prompt and then reboot. this should perform the checkdisk for you at boot up.

but the problem is I can't find the hard disk on my computer and if I insert the hard disk into the USB port windows says unknown device and the light still red.

I mean what happened that made your hard bad ?!

And whats the operating system you are using ?

Now on problems the HD's socket was bad it is not fixed it moves,
bnt when I move the plug the os read it and it becomes good.
I must change the cover to be good.
