How ofton to reformat

I use a Windows 98 bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com
Delete the partitions and make new ones then install xp

Does it make a difference than if you boot from an XP disk and delete and reformat the partitions from there? If so, what are the benifits of doing the contrary?

one is a quick format (xp cd) and one is a full format.

I do mine about every 3 months. I have a ghost image though so it only takes me 10 minutes to be fully functional again I update my ghost image maybe every 6 months with the latest games I play, software, and driver updates.

first time was over 2 years because i got a new motherboard

second time i had a glitch and didn't want to take the chance.

other than that. i don't format. i find no need for it.

I have a friend who just won't format his computers. he's too scared. he will spend 2,000-3,000 bucks on a new one everytime his old one slows up.

he even refuses to live me format them. all of his computer are slow for this reason.

Why would you put yourself through the agravation of reformating every 2 months?

when i said this i meant that i probably have never been longer than 2 months without a format. i'm in the same boat as warez monster. i multiboot so between various os's i run a clean installs. i also use a 98 bootdisk, nothing like the old school ways.

Try Linux or something NOT microsoft, and reformatting less than once a year, wouldn't even be a problem.
