I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop and my dvd-rw drive recently died. I would like to reinstall vista, but I'm stumped. I tried borrowing a friends external usb dvd drive so that I could re-install windows vista, but I cannot boot from it from the setup/bios. However, I am able to use the external dvd drive when operating windows right now.
I've heard that I could load windows vista onto a usb flash drive and boot from there, but I'd like to hear other options first - in case that does not work.
