Default how to enter setup/bios, whatever you call it in XP...

i need to get into setup or BIOS or whatever. the screen where i can change the boot sequence so i can boot from cd rom... how do i do that? i tried repeatedly pressing delete while booting xp, but it just beeps at me and continues to boot. what do i need to do?

It depends on your motherboard, it is what contains your
bios settings-not XP.

If you have your motherboard manual, check it but if not,
look at your monitor when you first start your pc up, long
before XP gets loaded-Should be a black screen with the
info on your hard drives(master/Slave) settings etc.

It should say something like" to enter setup", or "to enter
settings" or "BIOS" press the "Delete" key or "F8" key etc.

Just reboot your pc and pay attention to the screen for the
info. May pass by fast and will be long before XP loads.

Most common one I have run into is F8

f8 is usually what gives xp booting options, safe mode etc. its usually the del key but ive seen f1 and f2 before especially on oem laptops for some reason
