How do you enter safe boot?

I got windows xp home edition, and when I press F8, it tells me what I want to boot from.

Like floopy
Dvd
Hard drive and so on.....

So F8 I am sure does not work.

My friend forgot his password to xp, so thats why I want to go into safe mode, so I can switch it back, anyone got any idea on how to fix this?

wait a few extra seconds to hit F8, or just select hard drive and then keep hitting F8

Try those..

When you were hitting F8 did you do it before the Windows XP Load Screen came up? because that's the right way to do it

yes, I tried that vernong.

I typed f8 every sec, every different time, kept it hold, I have tried everything except pressing f8 when selecting hard drive on boot

You tap F8 after the BIOS loading screen goes off the screen and before the Widnows Loading Bar comes on.

That is it. There is no more to it. No other way to do it.

So I dl ophcrack iso and boot from disc? and then reset password?

I use password genius to reset forgotten passwords, works great.
