Hi,

I know that this is one way to disable Recycle bin:
set NukeOnDelete value to 1 in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\BitBucket

But, after this change, reboot (or at least logoff/logon) must be done so that changes are loaded and only after that Recycle Bin is really disabled.

Can anybody please tell me how I can "refresh" Recycle Bin settings without reboot or logoff/logon?

Or is there another way to disable Recycle Bin ?

I have to do this using code, so right-click on Recycle bin icon -> Properties and check "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin" is not a solution here :(

OS is Windows 2000.

Thanx in advance :)

start, run, gpedit.msc

user configuration
admin templates
desktop
remove recycle bin from desktop = enabled

refresh desktop

I just seen that it was 2000 so I can confirm that it works for that but try it, it works for XP pro, if it dont let me know and Ill find another way

I tried this on Windows 2003. It removes Recycle Bin from Desktop, but it does not disable it. Files are still sent to Recycle Bin. :(

On W2K SP4, in user configuration\admin templates\desktop I did not find "remove recycle bin from desktop".

Thanx anyway.

On W2K3 Server, in user configuration\admin templates\windows explorer there is an option "Do not move files in the Recycle bin", but after I enable it and refresh desktop, changes are not recognized.

On W2K there is no such option.
