I'd like to set a hot key, specifically to eject optical media in Windows XP Professional SP3.

Is there a way to do that?

Not without software. Cant think of what they keyboard mapper program name is. But i know that Windows can not do this without 3rd party software.

I imagine you can make a batch file to do it, and then set a shortcut on the batch file (such as Ctrl-Alt-E).

I'd write you up one, but I'm not entirely experienced with command-line stuff.

Edit: Nvm, Mak knows far more than I do on this subject.

Mak - I didn't find anything regarding eject/cd/dvd on that link. However, I did find a 3rd party application that ejects the CD. It shoots up command prompt for like 3 seconds and out comes the CD.

How can I assign, say, F12 to be the hot key to launch this app?

I will have to look up and see how to do it. Maybe CarnageX knows the program i am trying to think of as i think he is the one that suggested it a long time ago but i forgot the name.

I have 6 keys i can assign tasks to myself so i dont need 3rd party software like this. I can do it right by my keyboard driver software. So i will have to research more for you on this one. I will get back to you tonight for sure.
