Default How about a program to scan the registry?

Here's my next Q... and I didn't want to add it in my last post since it was about a different subject.
I was wondering if anyone uses a program that scans the registry for errors? I have a program for that but I don't use it much.
How much good would a program like this do for my pc? I know what could happen when you make changes to your registry but is it safe to have numberous invalid paths and ect.. on the registry?

Thanks
