Hoping for some help

I got the "un-mounted boot volume" error and have found and tried various fixes. Nothing will work, another problem is that the computer will not reconize the CD drive to use the XP setup disk. I did notice the when the memory was checking, it seemed to run for a long time and sort of erratic. Does this sound like the memory has failed?

I am at a loss at this point...
