Default home or professional

im in the process of building my computer for college next year. I am wondering if xp professional is worth the 40 extra dollars over xp home. the computer will be hooked up to the school's network...ive heard that professional is better with networks in general, but im wondering what other benefits it would bring me over home

Media Centre looks and acts just like XP Pro?
I thought it looks like...a media centre or digital cable?

that just and add on. you don't even have to enable it. or you can enable it to start everytime you computer starts. I only turn it on when I need it. it also records tv shows in the backgroud for me
