What sort of programs do you want to write? ie. what would you want the program to be able to do?

Just something simple then!

If you wish to write Windows applications, you would probably need to learn Visual C++ or C++ & Visual Basic.

I can program C, C++ & Java myself but have avoided learning much VB. Unfortunately, no one can just give you a quick tutorial via a forum on how to learn any of these. VB is extremely easy because it's fairly limited but C & C++ take a long time to master.

If you search the net though, there are plenty of free tutorials you can download on all of these languages.
