Hello,

You need the XP CD and to boot from it. This doesnt involve your Current Widnows install. It also doesnt involve your CMOS or BIOS.

ok thanks for the help. AVG has appeared to work. things run smooth as ever. for whatever reasons it missed 2 things on my first scan then overnight i ran it again and it found more.

and about the enabling usb in bios - i seriously cannot find it. there is no mention of usb or anything about usb in bios. i really dont get it.

and yes i know i needed the windows cd - i have it. after some more research i did realize (as someone mentioned in this thread) i have to enable "legacy usb" in bios but for the life of me i cant find it.

regardless things seem to be working. i appreciate the help. ty everyone.
