Help! Stuck on "Configuring Windows Updates"

My system is stuck. It had Windows updates. Went to restart. "Configuring Windows updates". 32% complete. And its stuck. Spinning and spinning and spinning......

So I manually forced computer off and restarted. Same thing. "Configuring Windows updates". 32% complete. Stuck. Now what?

Someone please help. Windows 7 on a Acer desktop

How long did you let it go for before you called it "stuck"? I know on my system it took almost 5 minutes for it to finish that part, it then restarted and finished updating. In total it took almost 20 minutes from the start o the first restart till i got back to a desktop.

It was longer than that. I'll let it go I guess. I just did "last Known good configuration" from f8 startup. went right back to 32% on configuring windows updates. i'll just leave it alone for awhile i guess.

Update. It finished. Finally. Thanks for help.

Well it could take longer depending on your system. It took that long with a Quad Core CPU and 6GB of RAM. It could just be that the system is syuck and you have to use a restore point to before you installed the updates.
